It has been argued that the nine most important people in the nation are members of the

Supreme Court. Certainly, they have the power to influence American society and government
for generations. The best way to understand the impact of the Supreme Court is through an
examination of some of the cases they have heard.
You are to select one of the cases listed below and create a report of at least 3 pages in
length. The report should cover the following areas, devoting several paragraphs to each:

The impact the ruling would have on society and/or government at that time.
The continuing impact the ruling would have on American society and/or government.
● How does the case impact your rights or your choices in life and society.
What might the impact be of the court overturning the decision you chose and how might
that affect you?
The impact the case had on future government action or as a precedent for future cases.

A synopsis of the case: What is it about and what are both sides of the issue in question?
A summary of the ruling. Include a summary of any dissenting opinion.

Answer:

The narrator begins the paragraph by stating the purpose of any written constitution: to be the fundamental and paramount law of the nation, therefore, any act of the legislature that is contrary to the Constitution must be overturned.

In fact, the Marbury v. Madison case is best remembered for being the first case in American history where the Supreme Court overturned an act of the Congress for the sole reason of being unconstitutional.
