This is not the case for 6, 8, and 9:

6^2 + 8^2 > 9^2

36 + 64 > 81

100 > 81

Had the longest side been 10 inches, the triangle would indeed by a right triangle as 10^2 = 100, but since this is not the case, you can't form a right triangle from the three lengths provided
