In the state of Florida, a person must be at least 14 years of age to operate a personal watercraft (PWC), such as a jet ski, without adult supervision. However, if a person is born on or after January 1, 1988, they must also have a Boating Safety Education ID Card to operate a PWC in Florida. This card can be obtained by completing a boating safety course approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
