Moving to Japan
Lisa was both thrilled and nervous when she found out that her father's company wanted him to move to Japan and work out of the company's head office there. Lisa knew nothing about Japan and wondered how she would fit into a place that was so different from Pasadena. There were still a couple of months before the family had to move, and Lisa had already begun taking Japanese classes. That way, she would at least know the basic greeting phrases in Japanese. She also went to the library and read up on Japanese history and culture, and found the stories about traditional samurai warriors very interesting. Lisa's mother had taken up Japanese cooking. One evening, she made washoku for dinner, and the family loved it. The idea of living in Japan was thrilling, and Lisa was looking forward to it, but she knew she was going to miss her friends and school back home.
