Directions: Use complete sentences to answer all the questions to help you plan your narrative based on a conflict you have experienced.
Make a Connection
What conflict have you faced in your own life? This will be the basis of your narrative. One of the most major conflicts I have faced in my life has to do with my inner self. I grew up normally, but middle school threw me a bit of a curve ball; I began questioning myself and who I was.
Characterization
Who is the protagonist? Emma Elizabeth Third
What does the protagonist look like? Short, blond hair, green eyes, 5,5.
What is the protagonist’s age and what other factual information is important (where he/she lives, goes to school, hobbies, etc.)? The protagonist's age is 14 years old. They enjoy playing the flute and ukulele, and occasionally try their hand at piano. Creative writing is their favorite thing to do, and they also do art once in a while. They also love creative writing They went to Avalon Middle School.
How would you describe the protagonist’s personality and attitude? They are bold and courageous, and love to be social, but also enjoy their time alone.
Who is the antagonist? Ash Kolia
What does the antagonist look like? Tall, slim and they dress however they want
What is the antagonist’s age and what other factual information is important (where he/she lives, goes to school, hobbies, etc.)? Ash is 14 they also go to Avalon Middle School. They live in the same part of town and they love to play with their cat.
How would you describe the antagonist’s personality and attitude? Social Butterfly, they have lots of friends and they are somewhat polite.
Conflict
What conflict does your protagonist face? They were best friends in the past with the antagonist, until something happened between them that made them split up.
Who or what causes the conflict? Ash had started a rumor about Emma
Who is involved in the conflict? The protagonist and antagonist and Kira are involved in the conflict.
How will the protagonist respond to the conflict? The protagonist tries to ignore the situation.
What is the outcome of the protagonist’s response to the conflict? End up getting in a fight with the Ash.
Plot
How will you introduce the characters, setting, and conflict in the exposition? I will introduce the characters by focusing on the protagonist's move and why they moved. Then skip to their first day of school, where their homeroom is where they run into the antagonist.
What events will happen in the rising action to help develop the conflict? The events that will happen will start with the protagonist ignoring the antagonist. Then, the antagonist starts leaving rude notes on the protagonist's desk. Then, one day the protagonist snaps and starts a fight with the antagonist after school.
What will the climax (turning point) be for the protagonist? Think about the decision the protagonist will have to make as a result of the conflict. The climax for the protagonist will be the fight after school.
What events will happen in the falling action? The events that will take place in the falling action will include the fight being broken up, and both of the characters being taken into the principal's office. Their parents are called in, and they are forced to make up as a result.
How will the conflict be solved in the resolution? The conflict will be solved when the antagonist ends up apologizing sincerely and the protagonist accepts it. They end up being friends again.
Point of View
What point of view will you use to tell the story? Think about who can best tell the story—a narrator who is inside the story (first person) or a narrator who is outside the story but knows the thoughts and feelings of the characters (third person omniscient). The point of view I will be using is first-person.
How will your selected point of view influence what readers know about the characters and the conflict in your narrative? The selected point of view will influence the readers' knowledge by giving them inside information about the protagonist's thoughts and feelings towards the antagonist.
