Explanation:

step 1. if r = 2, then its area = (pi)r^2 = (pi)(4) = 4pi

step 2. if r = 3 then its area = (pi)r^2 = (pi)(9) = 9pi

step 3. so A is the area of a circle half the sum of our circles with r = 2 and r = 3.

step 4. A = (4pi + 9pi)/2 = 13pi/2 =6.5(pi).
