Answer:
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH): ADH is produced by the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland. It works by increasing water reabsorption in the kidneys, which can increase blood volume and therefore increase blood pressure. This can be helpful in situations where blood pressure is low, such as in cases of dehydration or hypovolemia.
Atrial natriuretic hormone (ANH): ANH is produced by the heart in response to increased blood volume and pressure. It works by promoting the excretion of sodium and water in the urine, which can decrease blood volume and therefore decrease blood pressure. This can be helpful in situations where blood pressure is too high, such as in cases of hypertension or heart failure.
Renin: Renin is produced by the kidneys in response to low blood pressure or low blood volume. It works by converting angiotensinogen into angiotensin I, which is then converted into angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor, which means it can narrow blood vessels and increase blood pressure. It can also stimulate the release of aldosterone, which promotes sodium and water reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased blood volume and blood pressure. Renin is an important part of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, which helps regulate blood pressure.
