were leaders in government ❌
- mayans were ruled by several powerful figures that were of “royal” status such as kings, queens, etc.

grew the same types of crops ❌
- mayans grew crops such as squash, cotton, peppers, etc. whereas ancient egyptians grew wheat, lentils, and beans

made up most of the population ✅
- like in many other societies long ago, farmers were the most common position in both groups and typically worked together as families.

did not pay taxes to the government ❌
- commoners in mayan society had to pay taxes in order to support the king and so did the egyptians

hope this helped
