If I commence foward elimination to get U from A,

is C(U) and C(A) generally not same?

If so,
1) Why?
2) Are there any special conitions to make them same?

(C(A) is the column space of A!)

Because If we tried to define scalar multiplication we would run into problems. No there are not any special accommodations.
