Answer:

The room was in disarray. Chairs overturned, books scattered across the floor, and broken glass littered the kitchen counter. In the center of it all stood a woman, her eyes fixed on a piece of toast levitating up toward the toaster.

The world she lived in moved backward. Time ran in reverse, from the end back to the beginning. It was a strange existence, where cause and effect were inverted, and the balance of the universe was thrown off balance.

Every morning, she woke up knowing that her day was not going to be like anyone else's. She'd have to clean up her messes first thing in the morning instead of at the end of the day. She had to eat dinner before breakfast and start at the end of any project she undertook.

She grunted as she picked up a book from the floor, leafing through the pages. She remembered the day she'd bought it, the feeling of excitement as she made her way to the cashier with her purchase.

It was a book about the future, and it had brought her hope. But now, in this world where time ran backward, it only brought despair.

She looked out of the window and saw the sun set, the colors getting lighter and the shadows disappearing, as though the day's shades were being scooped up little by little. There were no moving cars, no planes flying overhead. Nature moved differently. There was no growth, only decay.

As she looked back at the toaster, she saw a small piece of bread fly out of the appliance and into her hand. She laughed, feeling happy for a change, and she began to realize something.

In this world, she could actually control time.

She could apologize to someone and spare them the pain. She could see the effects of an action and correct it before it happened. She could rebuild what was broken and relish the experience of creation.

This world was a strange place to live in, but it was also a place of opportunity. A chance to do things that were never before possible.

The woman smiled as she took a bite of the toast. She knew that she could use this world to help people. She could make a difference. Just as long as she remembered that to move forward in this world, she had to move backward.
