To work out the x-axis of the midpoint, take the two x-axis values of the coordinates given and find the difference of the two values. So the equation becomes 2--8 which equals 10. Now the midpoint means half way so we half 10 to get 5. Now we can take (2,-6) and minus 5 from the x-axis to get the x-axis of the midpoint. 2 - 5 = -3. The x-axis of the midpoint is -3.

To work out the y-axis of the midpoint, take the two y-axis values of the coordinates given and find the difference of the two values. So the equation becomes -6-5=-11 Now the midpoint means half way so we half -11 to get -5.5. Now we can take (2,-6) and add 5.5 from the y-axis to get the y-axis of the midpoint. -6 + 5.5 =-0.5. The y-axis of the midpoint is -0.5
