Italy is part of the Mediterranean coast. Does volcanic activity like Vesuvius suggest the Mediterranean Sea is shrinking or expanding?

Answer: Expanding.

Step-by-step explanation:

When a volcano explodes it emits magma which flows across the land in the lava flow. This lava later cools into rock which adds space to the currently existing plane. Later life will begin to return to the scorched grounds giving way to habitable space hence expanding.
