3 divided by 1/4 = 12

put 3 over 1 (3/1)

then do keep, (the 3/1) change, (change the division symbol to multiplication) and then flip the 1/4 (which would be 4/1)

Now multiply 3/1 times 4/1 which would get you 12/1 which is 12.
