Choose a method that can be used to solve this system of equations by elimination.
2x - 2y = 24
4x + 7y=-40
O
Subtract 2x from both equations
and solve the first equation for y.
Multiply the first equation by -2 and add the second equation.
Add the first equation to the second equation and subtract 6x from both sides of the equation.
Subtract 7y from the second equation and add the first equation.

Answer: (20,8) [x equals 20, and y equals 8.]

Explanation: multiply the equation 2x-2y=24 by 2 which will be 4x-4y=48

Then, do that minus 4x+7y=-40 because both 4x has the same operation with is addition which mean u have to subtract. U remove 4x in both equations cause 4x-4x is 0.

Then you can do -4y-7y which is -11y. After that, you can do 48-(-40) cause there is already -40 so add another negative. So 40+48 is 88. Then it would be 11y=88 which is 8 cause 88/11 is 8.
Now that you found y you have to find x. To find x u have to substitute the answer into an equation which looks like, 2x-(2x8)=24 which is 2x-16=24. Then 2x=16+24 which is 40. Finally 2x=40 = 20. So x equals 20.
