3/4 + x = 2
Subtract 3/4 to both sides to get x by itself:
x = 2 - 3/4
Calculate:
x = 5/4
***explanation to 2 - 3/4 = 5/4:
To subtract fractions, we must get a common denominator. 2 can also be written as 2/1 or 4/2, or 8/4. So we will do 8/4 - 3/4. When adding/subtracting fractions, only calculate the numerator and keep the denominator. So 8 - 3 = 5. 8/4 - 3/4 = 5/4

So the value of x is 5/4 or 1 1/4 or 1.25.

Hope this helped!
