The Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) is a system for classifying and ranking emergency medical services situations.
Every kind of occurrence has a number-letter-number format code assigned by the MPDS. The category of the occurrence (e.g., breathing trouble) is indicated by the first number, which is one of the digits 1 through 32.
