Explanation:

-3x+y=8

+3x +3x

y=8+3x

3x+5(8+3x)=4

3x+40+15x=4

18x+40=4

-40 -40

18x=-36

x=-2

-3(-2)+y=8

6+y=8

-6 -6

y=2
