Read the following excerpt from a student essay. How can the writer best improve his or her

word choice?
J. K. Rowling, the greatest living British writer, wrote the Harry Potter series, the best
books ever written. Rowling first came up with the brilliant idea for Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone in 1990. As a single mother, she struggled to support herself while
working on the book. Unbelievably, several publishers rejected the novel, but-thank
goodness! it was finally published in 1997. Rowling went on to write six more amazing
books in the series and became incredibly wealthy and famous.
A- by including more vivid sensory details
B- by using more technical terms
C- by removing overly biased language
