There are approximately 7.48 liquid gallons in a cubic foot. If a cylindrical water tank holds 1,300 liquid gallons and has a radius of 2.6 feet, what is the approximate height of the water tank? Approximate using π = 3.14 and round to the nearest tenth.

The height of the water tank is 8.2ft

What is volume of a cylinder?

A cylinder is a three-dimensional solid that holds two parallel bases joined by a curved surface, at a fixed distance. These bases are normally circular in shape (like a circle) and the center of the two bases are joined by a line segment, which is called the axis.

The volume of a cylinder = πr²h

there are 7.48 liquid gallons in a cubic foot.

therefore in 1100 liquid gallons there will be 1300/7.48 = 173.7 ft³

147.1 = 3.14 × 2.6² ×h

147.1 = 21.2h

h = 173.7/21.2

h = 8.2ft(nearest tenth)

therefore the height of the tank is 8.2ft
