First, break the trapezoid into 2 shapes. A rectangle and a triangle.

Then you should have a rectangle that is 16 by 13. Find the area of that first by doing

16 x 13

That equals 208.

Now find the area of the triangle. The formula is

(Base x height)/2

The height of the triangle is 16 because it is on the one side and the opposite side is equal to it. The base is 18-13, which equals 5. This is because if you imagine the shape as a full one, it will be a rectangle and you have to find that “little part”, so you subtract. (Hope that makes some sense lmk if not I’ll try to explain more)

So the equation is

(5 x 16)/2

= 40

Now add the two answers together and you get the answer,

40 + 208 =

248.

The answer is C.

Hope that helps.
