164 = -16x^2+100x+50\\\\0 = -16x^2+100x-214\\\\

And set a= -16, b=100, c=-214

You'll get two x-values.

12. Hitting the ground means the height is equal to 0. So...


0 = -16x^2+100x+50\\

Using the quadratic formula you get

x=5.702s

and

x= 0.548s

This means the rocket hits the ground at 5.702s.
