Answer - solution is ( 2, 2)

To find your x and y to graph
Change your equation to standard form

y = 5x -8
-5x + y = -8

Now sub 0 for x
-5(0) + y = -8
Simplify
y = -8

Now sub 0 for y

-5x + 0 = -8
Simplify
-5x = -8
Divide both sides by -5
-5/-5 x = -8/-5
Simplify
x = 8/5 or 1.6

Now do equation 2 the same way

y = -3x + 8
Change to standard form
3x + y = 8

Sub 0 for x
3(0) + y = 8
Simplify
y = 8

Sub 0 for y
3x + 0 = 8
Simplify
3x = 8
Divide both sides by 3
3/3x = 8/3
x = 8/3 or 2.7

Graph ( 1.6, 0) and (0, -8) for equation 1
Graph ( 2.7, 0) and (0, 8)

When you graph, your lines cross at (2, 2)
That is your solution
