A ball contains 5000cm cubed of air.

More air is pumped into the ball at a rate of 160cm cubed per second.
The ball is full of air when it becomes a sphere with a radius of 15cm.
Volume of sphere = 4 over 3 pi r cubed where r is the radius.
Does it take less than 1 minute to fill the ball?

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

To answer this question, all we need to do is find the volume of the full ball, and the volume of the original ball after pumping for 1 minute.

The volume of the full ball is 4/3πr³=4/3π15³=14136.16cm³

The volume of the original ball after 1 minute is

5000cm³+(160×60)=14600cm³.

Since 14600>14136.16, it will take less than a minute to pump the ball full.

Hope this helps!
