put 0 where the x is in the equation

f(x) = y

f(x) = (x-2)²

y = (0-2)²

y = 4

does the graph go thru (0,4) ?

no

so this is not the graph

Answer:

the vertical asymptote is in the wrong place

Explanation:

You want a simple explanation why the graph shown is not a graph of 1/f(x) = 1/(x -2)².

Asymptote

The zero of f(x) is at x = 2. This will be the equation of the vertical asymptote of the reciprocal function.

The given graph has a vertical asymptote at x = -2, so cannot be a graph of 1/f(x).
