Here's the deal. The definition of congruent triangles requires 6 things to be congruent. 3 corresponding sides and 3 corresponding angles. That's a lot.

But the triangle congruence postulates (SSS,SAS,ASA, AAS) only require 3 congruent pairs to prove triangle congruence.
