When a substance is heated, its molecules absorb energy, which causes them to vibrate and move more rapidly. This
increased
movement and vibration of the
molecules
results in an increase in the temperature of the substance. If enough heat is
applied
, the substance can reach its boiling point, at which point its molecules move so
rapidly
that they overcome the forces holding them together and the substance turns into a gas.
The movement of molecules due to heating can also lead to changes in the physical and chemical properties of the substance, such as changes in its state, color, or chemical reactivity.
