As for your choices, rejecting causal determinism might require rejecting established physical laws (science)¹. Accepting compatibilism means agreeing that even a person brainwashed by a hypnotist acts freely¹. Accepting hard determinism means believing that we have no free will but believing, at least in practice, that we do have free will¹.
