Answer: They let the USA join WW1
Explanation: Even if the US governement and citizen were fermly neutral not willing to join seem to them a Euro-european war, they slowly started to change when Germany sink the Luisitania in which a few hundred non-military American citizen died. Plus US citizen began to despise German imperalism appetite on Europe. As the US governement, they don't want France and the UK to lose, otherwise, they couldn't pay back debt loan by the US gov to finance their fight. The Americans will probably go to war with Germany (and a fortiori the Central Powers) anyway by this point. But when Britain show the US the Zimmerman telegram, that was the final straw. Basically, in this telegraù the desperate German fearing this US intervention ask Mexico to attack the US to divert them from Europe. But the telegram was interceped by the UK first (and Mexico refuse to join the war anyway). The US then declare war on Germany in 1917, but they needed some month before landing in Europe
