Answer:

8.6°F

Explanation:

To find the temperature at 6 pm, we need to start with the temperature at noon and then add the changes in temperature that occurred between noon and 3 pm, and between 3 pm and 6 pm.

Temperature at noon = temperature at 9 am + rise in temperature between 9 am and noon

Temperature at noon = -12.6°F + 19.5°F

Temperature at noon = 6.9°F

Temperature at 3 pm = temperature at noon + rise in temperature between noon and 3 pm

Temperature at 3 pm = 6.9°F + 16.2°F

Temperature at 3 pm = 23.1°F

Temperature at 6 pm = temperature at 3 pm - drop in temperature between 3 pm and 6 pm

Temperature at 6 pm = 23.1°F - 14.5°F

Temperature at 6 pm = 8.6°F

Therefore, the temperature at 6 pm was 8.6°F.
