Answer

x = 1

Explanation

2x + (1)/(4) = (1)/(4)x + 2

1. subtract (1/4)x from both sides

(7)/(4)x + (1)/(4) = 2

2. subtract 1/4 from both sides

(7)/(4)x = (7)/(4)

3. multiply both sides by the reciprocal of x's coefficient

The reciprocal of
\frac{\bold{7}}{\bold{4}} is
\frac{\bold{4}}{\bold{7}}.

\left((\\ot4)/(\\ot7)\right)\left((\\ot7)/(\\ot4)x\right) = \left((\\ot7)/(\\ot4)\right)\left((\\ot4)/(\\ot7)\right)

\boxed{x = 1}
