Explanation:

f(x) = 2x^2 -12x + 16 to get to vertex form you will need to complete the square for 'x'....to do THAT you will need the x^2 coefficient to be '1'

Start like this:

2 (x^2 - 6x) + 16 now complete the square

2 (x^2 - 6x +9) - 18 + 16

f(x) = 2 (x-3)^2 - 2 Done.
