1 . remove the negative by factoring out that first:

-(y^2-3y-4).

2 . Then try to find a common pair. In this case, its going to be -4 and 1.

-(y+1)(y-4).

3 . Lastly, bring back the negative by factoring it into one of the equations.

(1-y)(y-4).
