x = 70

Explanation:

To solve, we need to get x all by itself. The right side can be simplified by adding 0.4 and 10 first. Then multiply by 5, then add 3 1/2. See image. You get 277.5 on the right.

To get rid of the 1/5, i think its easier to multiply both sides by 5. (Another way is to distribute the 1/5, but i didn't do it that way)

Then add 2.5.

Then divide by 4.
