These sorts of questions you have to use something called trigonometry. Therefore you cannot just half 90 degrees or something.
Remember these trigonometric functions:
sinθ= opposite/hypotenuse
cosθ= adjacent/hypotenuse
tanθ= opposite/adjacent
Question 1:
7cm is the opposite side, as it’s opposite angle θ
9cm is the adjacent side, as it’s next to angle θ
The trigonometric function that involves the opposite and adjacent side is tan.
tanθ= opposite/adjacent
tanθ= (7/9)
θ= tan^-1 (7/9)
Put tan^-1(7/9) into your calculator, and you should get 37.9 degrees to one decimal place.
θ= 37.9 degrees (to one decimal place)
Question 2:
30cm is the opposite side, as it’s opposite angle 35 degrees.
y is the adjacent side, as it’s next to the angle 35 degrees.
So you use the tan function again.
tanθ= opposite/adjacent
tan35= (30/y)
y(tan35)=30
y= 30/tan35
put 30/tan35 into your calculator, and you should get 42.8 to one decimal place.
y= 42.8cm (to one decimal place)
(i’m really sorry if i’m wrong/made any calculation errors, but i’m sure this is the approach you have to use when answering these questions)
