(Raymond’s Run)

Why does Squeaky decide to coach Raymond?

She wants him to win so that she can be known as his coach.
She wants him to be able to run a race someday.
She wants him to look at her as his hero.
She has no idea, it just sounds like a fun thing to do.

I appreciate any help!

Answer:

She sees potential in him as a runner and wants to help him develop his skills.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the short story "Raymond's Run" by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky decides to coach Raymond because she sees potential in him as a runner and wants to help him develop his skills. Squeaky's passion is running, and she takes pride in her abilities as a runner. When she sees that Raymond has a talent for running, she wants to help him realize his potential and achieve his goals. She believes that Raymond could become a great runner someday, and she wants to be a part of his journey. Squeaky's decision to coach Raymond is driven by her love of running and her desire to help others achieve their dreams, not by any selfish motives like wanting to be known as his coach or to be seen as a hero.
