-2(8x - 6) = -11
The answer is: x= 1.4375 or 23/16

Step-by-step explanation:
When solving for x you want to isolate the variable (x)
To start, you can multiply 8x and -6 by -2
You’ll then have -16x + 12 = -11
To get x by itself subtract 12 from both sides
You will then have -16x = -23
Now you divide by -16 to find x

(The reason you don’t do anything within the parentheses first is bc you can’t subtract a number from x so the next thing you do is multiply the -2 into those numbers. To get -16x you just multiply the 8 and -2. Also, the positive 12 is because multiplying to negative numbers will be positive.

I am not 100% confident this is the correct answer since it was actually a bit confusing for me as well so getting it checked by someone else or asking a teacher for help later on would be a good idea.
