Objective: Student will analyze key political turning points by explaining the tone and outcome of specific presidential elections that significantly changed American politics and society.

Task
First, determine the fundamental characteristics believed to make an election “ugly.”
Secondly, research the five elections listed in the bracket below. Brackets are head-to-head matchups between competing opponents. The winner of each game advances to the next round in the bracket following the idea that the team that continues to win through the bracket is the eventual champion. Provide historically defensible reasoning for the advancement of the “winning” election in each game. Please note that there are four total games “played” out in the bracket. In the Championship Game, you will explain why your choice for ugliest election is the “Ugliest.”
