Answer: y (x - 8) (x + 3) is your factorization

Given

x^2y -3xy -40y

First we factor out GCF
The only thing that all three terms have in common is y

y (x*2 -3x -40)

Now we need to find which two numbers multiplied together = -40 and when added sum = -3

-8 x 5 = -40
-8 + 5 = -3

y (x - 8) (x + 3) is your factorization
