Subrena Smith ( reading 3 ) argues that philosophy is important to science education. Some of her thoughts relate pretty well to some thing Bertrand Russell ( reading 1) says about the value of philosophy. In the first part , write a paragraph where you can compare something Smith says & something Russell says , make sure not just to quote/ paraphrase them but also tell how you understand their claims. In the second part , consider what west ( reading 2) days about philosophy. Choose an idea or quote of his that stood out to you & reflect on what it offers that might be a little different from what Smith & Russell wrote.

Answer:

In her article, Subrena Smith emphasizes the importance of philosophy in science education, as it allows individuals to critically analyze and evaluate scientific theories and concepts. Similarly, Bertrand Russell argues that philosophy enables individuals to question and analyze established beliefs and traditions, allowing for progress and growth in society. Both Smith and Russell highlight the crucial role that philosophy plays in fostering critical thinking and analysis, allowing individuals to challenge and question established ideas and beliefs.

On the other hand, Cornel West offers a slightly different perspective on philosophy, emphasizing its role in fostering empathy and compassion. West believes that philosophy allows individuals to understand and connect with one another on a deeper level, leading to a more humane and just society. This perspective offers a different, more emotional aspect to philosophy, emphasizing its role in not just questioning established beliefs, but also fostering compassion and understanding amongst individuals.
