Protection from harmful environmental factors (such as UV radiation, extreme temperatures, and injuries) and effective thermoregulation are the two primary concerns that need to be managed in human skin adaptations. (maintaining a stable body temperature). Through a variety of adaptations, including the production of melanin to absorb UV rays, the capacity to perspire to cool the body, and the creation of insulation in colder environments, the skin has evolved to accomplish both of these tasks.
