Explanation:

Multiply the second equation by -5 to eliminate 15x:

{15x - 4y = -50,

{3x - 2y = -16; / × (-5)

+ {15x - 4y = -50,

{-15x + 10y = 80;

6y = 30 / : 6

y = 5

Make x the subject from the 2nd equation (it doesn't matter, you can do it from the 1st one instead):

15x = -50 + 4y / : 15


x = 3 (1)/(3) + (4)/(15) y


x = 3 (1)/(3) + (4)/(15) * 5 = (14)/(3) = 4 (2)/(3)
