As for the incident that shows how I was doing "selection" during the process of perception, I remember once walking down a crowded street and hearing someone call my name. Despite the commotion and numerous conversations happening around me, I was able to quickly pinpoint and recognize the voice of my friend, showing how I was able to select and filter out irrelevant stimuli in order to focus on the important one.
As for a stereotype that I hold, I must admit that I have a tendency to assume that people who are heavily tattooed or pierced are rebellious or unconventional in some way. However, I recognize that this is not always the case and that it is important to not judge others based on stereotypes.
