Answer:

width is 3m

Explanation:

Length is x + 3

Width is x

Area of the remaining part is 2 * 6 = 12

Area of the whole floor is 12 + 6 = 18

area = l * w \\ 18 =(x + 3) * x \\ 18 = {x}^(2) +3x \\ { x}^(2) + 3x = 18 \\ {x}^(2) + 3x - 18 = 0 \\ {x}^(2) + 6x - 3x - 18 = 0 \\ (x - 3)(x + 6) = 0 \\ x - 3 = 0 \\ x = 3
