  • ÷ 4 = ×4 to both sides
  • 8x ÷ 4 × 4 = 8x
  • 100 × 4 = 400
  • 8x = 400

  • 8x = ÷ 8 to both sides
  • 8x ÷ 8 = x
  • 400 ÷ 8 = 50
  • x = 50

This means that x is 50!

To check our answer is correct we can substitute 50 to x in the question...
