P = 14x + 2

if x=12, P = 170

The rectangle has four sides. Two long sides and two short sides.

We add up all four sides.

P = 4x-5+3x+6+4x-5+3x+6

combine like terms.

P = 14x + 2 this is the equation in simplest form.

If x = 12, we can calculate the perimeter.

P = 14(12) + 2

P = 168 + 2

P = 170

The perimeter would be 170.
