Open the bracket:

4y - 12 + 19 = 16y + 24 + 7

Collect like terms

4y - 16y = 24 + 7 + 12 - 19

-12y = 24

Divide both sides by - 12 to isolate y

-12y / - 12 = 24 / - 12

y = -2

Thus the answer to your problem is, C. -2

For first step you do not really need to “ open the bracket “ just solve it.
