Momentum-

Where-

  • P = Momentum
  • m = Mass of Object
  • v = Velocity of object

As per question, we are given -

  • Distance travelled by car= 12 km
  • Time taken = 20 minutes

Convert 20 minutes to hour-

  • 1 minute = 1/60 hour

Therefore, 20 minutes = 20/60 = 1/3 hour

\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf Speed_((car)) = (12)/((1)/(3))\\


\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf Speed_((car))=12 * 3 \\


\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf Speed_((car))= 36 km/h \\


\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf Speed_((car))= (36 * 1000)/(3600)\\


\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf Speed_((car))= \frac{\cancel{36} * 10\cancel{0}\cancel{0}}{\cancel{36}\:\cancel{0}\cancel{0}}\\


\:\:\:\:\:\:\longrightarrow \sf \underline{Speed_((car)) = 10 m/s }\\

  • Mass = 30,000 gm
  • Mass = 30,000/1000 kg =30kg

No that we have obtained the velocity of the car is 10 m/s and the mass of the car is 30 kg,so we can put all the values and find for momentum of car -

  • Therefore, the momentum of car is 300 kgm/s.
