I believe you add positive 3 to -3 and -5 making the equation simplified 8n=-2 then you distribute 8n under 8n and -2 cancelling out 8n on the left side making the equation look like this 8n=-2 and simplified the answer will be -1/4

Answer: n = -0.25

Explanation:

the equation is set up as -3 + 8n = -5 , and our goal is to isolate n

to do this, well first start with adding 3 on both sides of the equals sign to cancel out -3

then, you have 8n = -2

now, you isolate n by dividing 8 on both sides to cancel out 8, giving you -0.25

(work below)

-3 + 8n = -5

+3 +3

———————
8n = -2

8 8

n = -0.25
