3x-3 = 5y+1

3x - 5y = 1 + 3

Solve 1 and 2 simultaneously

x - 2y = -2 .... 1 * 3

3x-5y = 4 .... 2 * 1

Subtract

-6y + 5y = -6-4

-y = -10

y = 10

Substitute y = 10 into 1

x- 2y = -2

x - 2(10) = -2
