Answer: Metamorphosis & External Fertilization

Explanation: Both groups also exhibit a high degree of diversity in terms of their life cycle patterns, with some species of mollusks and insects exhibiting direct development, in which the young closely resemble the adult form, while others undergo a more complex metamorphosis.

In both groups, reproduction typically involves external fertilization, with the male releasing sperm into the environment and the female laying eggs.

The life cycles of a mollusk and an insect are alike because the larvae both look like worms. Some of them are worms, but the larva of the insect grows to look like a regular adult later on in life. There are other similarities that I cannot state.
